Baby showers have a way of turning into full-scale productions. One minute you're thinking small and sweet, and the next you're coordinating vendors, staging a styled backdrop, and wondering how things got so complicated. At The Z Hall in Owosso, we've hosted enough showers to know the best ones usually come from stepping back, not adding more.
We've been a gathering place in this community since 1916. The rooms are already set up for a celebration. You don't need to arrive with a trunk full of decorations to make it feel warm and personal. Here's how to pull off a great shower using what we already have in place.
What The Z Hall Already Has Ready for You
The short answer is most of it. The spaces are furnished, the staff is included, and the catering team is on-site. What that means practically is that you're choosing a room and a menu, not sourcing chairs, tracking down a caterer, and hoping everything shows up at the same time.
Picking the Right Room Takes Care of Most of the Setup
The Fireside Room is where a lot of smaller, more intimate showers happen. It holds up to 24 guests and has a built-in fireplace that creates a naturally warm atmosphere before a single candle is lit. If your guest list runs closer to 50 or 60 people, the Legacy Room accommodates up to 56 and comes with stainless serving lines that keep a buffet moving without bottlenecks forming at the food table. Both rooms include tables, chairs, and white linens as part of the rental. Décor is available to rent from us if you'd like it, but the spaces are genuinely comfortable and finished on their own.
Let the Food Come Together Without Chasing Multiple Vendors
Our on-site culinary team handles catering, and the options go further than most people expect for a morning or midday event. Morning service upgrades available through us include fruit trays, yogurt parfaits, quiche, a sandwich bar, and a mimosa bar. No piecing together orders from separate vendors, no coordinating delivery windows. We also accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly requests when you let us know in advance, so every guest has something to enjoy without a backup plate situation. If you prefer to bring outside food, private parties are welcome to do that, though kitchen facilities are not included in that arrangement.
The Garden Is Ready If You Want It
If you're planning a shower in warmer months and want to use the outdoor space, the garden is a real option. There are walkways, flowers, hardwood trees, and sculptures throughout. Lawn games, including cornhole, giant connect four, and giant chess, are set up and available for guests to use between the main moments of the event. The fire pit and s'mores table are there, too. It's a settled, natural setting that doesn't need heavy styling or an installation to feel finished. That low maintenance quality is exactly what you want when the goal is to avoid overcomplicating things.

The Staff Is Already There, So You Don't Have to Be Everywhere
Set up and teardown of tables and chairs is handled by our team. Event day staff is present throughout to assist with drinks, buffet service, and cleanup, so you're not managing logistics from inside the party. Room rentals include six consecutive hours between 8 am and midnight, which gives you real time on either end to settle in before guests arrive and wrap up without rushing. The facility is also handicap accessible with baby changing stations in the restrooms, which matters more than people realize once a room full of new and expecting parents shows up.
One More Thing Worth Knowing
The venue is centrally located in Mid-Michigan, within easy driving distance of Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, Detroit, and Grand Rapids. For guests traveling from across the region, that central location often makes the difference between a strong turnout and a half-full room.
Not overplanning a shower doesn't mean cutting corners. It means trusting the pieces already in place to do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the guest of honor and the people who showed up for her. The Z Hall has the rooms, the food, the staff, and the space. You bring the people.

FAQs
How far in advance should I book a baby shower at The Z Hall?
It depends on your preferred date. Saturday dates from June through October are primarily reserved for weddings, though availability within three months of any date may open up. For non-Saturday events, reaching out early gives you the most room selection flexibility. Contact us at (989) 723-7028 or info@thezhall.com to check what's available.
Can I bring my own food to the shower?
Private parties are welcome to bring outside food, but kitchen facilities, including utensils, refrigerators, and ovens, are not available for outside catering use. A setup fee may apply for groups over 100. Our on-site catering team is also available if you'd prefer to let us handle it.
What's included with the room rental?
Tables, chairs, and white linens are included. Staff handles setup and teardown. Décor is available to rent separately, and you're welcome to ask about the current inventory when you inquire.
Does The Z Hall accommodate guests with dietary restrictions?
Yes. Our culinary team accommodates vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly requests. Let us know your guests' needs when you're planning the menu so we can prepare accordingly.
