When you're planning a team dinner, you need a space that strikes the right balance. Professional enough to honor the occasion, flexible enough to let your group connect naturally, and equipped to handle the details so you can focus on your team. We built The Legacy Room at The Z Hall with exactly this kind of evening in mind.
The Legacy Room Transforms From Service Station to Gathering Space
Most event venues separate their buffet staging from guest areas, and we do the same with our stainless serving lines. But here's what makes The Legacy Room different for corporate hosts. Once your team has moved through the buffet, this entire space converts into a comfortable party area for up to 56 guests. You're not stuck in a narrow hallway with a queue. You have an actual room.
What That Capacity Means for Your Team
Fifty-six guests seated gives you flexibility. If your Owosso office team includes remote colleagues flying in from Lansing, Flint, or Detroit, you can gather everyone without renting a space that swallows a smaller group. The room feels full at 40 and still comfortable at 56. We've hosted recognition dinners, department celebrations, and year-end gatherings here. The size keeps conversation easy while the setup stays professional.
How the Buffet Service Works On Site
Our catering team uses the stainless serving lines to stage your meal. You choose from entrées like roasted pork loin, sliced beef with gravy, baked herb chicken, or cedar plank salmon. Sides include Yukon gold mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, wild rice medley, and a tossed house salad or Caesar salad. Fresh-baked dinner rolls come with every buffet. We handle dietary accommodations, so vegan, gluten-free, or allergy-friendly options integrate into the same service without separate setups.
The buffet format moves groups quickly. Fifty people pass through in about 20 minutes. Then our staff clears the lines, and the Legacy Room becomes part of your event space instead of a functional corridor.
What's Included With Your Corporate Event Booking
Corporate bookings at The Z Hall come with specific advantages. Food and alcohol must be provided through our catering team and full-service bar, but that requirement eliminates your coordination headaches. We waive AV equipment fees and bartender fees for corporate events. Your rental includes six consecutive hours between 8 am and midnight for setup, the event itself, and teardown.

Tables, chairs, and white linens are part of the package. Our staff handles the setup based on your floor plan and manages teardown after your group leaves. We provide handicap accessible bathrooms with baby changing stations, free guest Wi-Fi throughout the 13,000 square foot facility, upgraded heating and cooling with backup power, and a sound system with wired and wireless microphones.
Expanding Beyond the Legacy Room When You Need More Space
If your team dinner grows past 56, the Legacy Room connects to the rest of our venue. The Great Room holds up to 216 for a plated or buffet dinner with Michigan's largest wooden dance floor, chandelier lighting, and exposed brick. The Bar Lounge accommodates 80 guests and includes a full-service bar with a granite counter. You can stage a cocktail hour there, then move into the Legacy Room for dinner, or use both spaces together for a larger corporate gathering.
We've also worked with groups who started small in the Legacy Room and expanded into the Great Room for a presentation or awards segment after dinner. The 12-foot projector screens in the Great Room handle slides, videos, or recognition content. TVs with HDMI hookups in the Bar Lounge give you backup display options.
Why Mid Michigan Teams Choose Owosso for Corporate Events
The Z Hall sits at 1775 Owosso Ave, centrally located in Mid Michigan. You're within driving distance of Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, Detroit, and Grand Rapids. That geography matters when you're pulling a team together from multiple offices or inviting clients from across the region. Owosso gives everyone a neutral midpoint without the parking complexity or venue costs of a larger metro area.
Our facility dates back to 1916 as a Czech fraternal club and was fully renovated in 2019. The history shows in details like exposed brick and the wooden dance floor, but the mechanical systems, Wi-Fi, and AV setup are current.
Planning Your Evening With Our Team
Once you book, we assign a dedicated point person who handles vendor communication and day-of coordination. If you're bringing in a speaker, a training facilitator, or even just coordinating with your internal HR or leadership team, that contact manages the logistics. Our event day staff assists with buffet service, refilling items, lighting candles if you want a more formal atmosphere, and handling room transitions if you're using multiple spaces.
You'll work directly with our catering team to finalize your menu. We offer tasting events and workshops throughout the year if you want to preview options before your event. Appetizers can start the evening. Vegetable trays, shrimp cocktail, sliders, chicken bites, and charcuterie boards keep guests comfortable during any pre-dinner mingling. Late-night snacks like a French fry bar, soft pretzel bar, or s'mores station extend the event if your team wants to linger.
The full-service bar operates with licensed bartenders and liability insurance. You choose between a hosted bar where the company covers all drinks, a semi-hosted bar with set limits, or a cash bar. We stock standard, premium, and top-shelf liquor along with wine options including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Moscato. Beer, seltzer, specialty cocktails, and non alcoholic beverages round out the selection. Our house policy prohibits outside alcohol, checks IDs for any guest appearing under 40, and closes the bar 30 minutes before your event ends.
If you're planning a smaller strategy meeting or executive dinner with fewer than 10 people, we can arrange the use of the Fireside Room instead. This space holds up to 20 seated or 35 in a theater-style setup. It includes makeup mirrors and a fireplace, originally designed as a bridal suite but adaptable for intimate corporate gatherings.

FAQs
How far in advance should we book the Legacy Room for a corporate team dinner?Corporate events can often be scheduled within a few weeks, especially for weeknights or non-peak months. Contact us with your preferred date, and we'll check availability. Prime Saturdays from June through October are typically reserved for weddings unless available within three months of your event date.
Can we bring in our own catering or alcohol for a corporate event?
Corporate events at The Z Hall require food and alcohol to be provided through our catering team and full-service bar. This policy allows us to waive AV equipment fees and bartender fees, and it simplifies your coordination. Private parties have different rules; outside catering is allowed for those bookings, but corporate events work directly with our culinary and bar staff.
What AV capabilities does the Legacy Room have for presentations during dinner?
The Legacy Room includes one projector screen and speakers. If your event requires larger displays or multiple screens, the Great Room offers two 12-foot projector screens. The Bar Lounge and Fireside Room have TVs with HDMI hookups. Wired and wireless microphones are available throughout the venue. We waive AV equipment fees for corporate bookings.
How does the buffet setup work if we have team members with dietary restrictions?
Our catering team builds custom menus for vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly needs. These options integrate into the same buffet service rather than requiring separate stations. When you finalize your menu, let us know about any dietary accommodations, and we'll make sure those items are clearly labeled and plated appropriately during service.
