There's a reason couples from Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, and beyond keep landing on The Z Hall when they're searching for a wedding venue in Mid-Michigan. It's not just the 13,000 square feet or the full-service catering, or the bar with licensed bartenders on staff. It's the way everything works together, from the outdoor garden ceremony to the first dance on Michigan's largest wooden dance floor, without couples having to coordinate a dozen separate vendors to pull it off.
We've been hosting weddings here since the renovation in 2019, and what we hear most from couples after the day is over is that it felt easy. That's what we're aiming for every time.
What Makes a Wedding at The Z Hall Work
Planning a wedding involves more moving parts than most people expect, and the venue you choose either simplifies that or adds to it. At The Z Hall, most of what you need is already under one roof, which means fewer phone calls, fewer contracts, and fewer things to manage on the day itself.
The Spaces and How Your Day Flows
The property at 1775 Owosso Ave gives you real flexibility. Ceremonies can take place in the outdoor garden, which includes walkways, flowers, hardwoods, and sculptures, or inside the Great Room if the weather calls for a backup. After the ceremony, guests can move naturally into the Bar Lounge for cocktail hour while the Great Room is set for dinner and dancing.
The Great Room itself is the centerpiece. Chandelier lighting, exposed brick walls, a stage, and that wooden dance floor create an atmosphere that works for both formal seated dinners and late-night celebrations. The Legacy Room handles buffet staging with stainless serving lines, keeping food fresh and service moving without congestion in the main space. The Fireside Room serves as the bridal suite, complete with makeup mirrors and a private prep area. The Z House gives the groom's party a full kitchen, living room, and sleeping arrangements for six the night before or morning of the wedding.
Food and Beverage, Handled
The catering team works out of the kitchen on site, which means the food is prepared and served fresh, not trucked in from somewhere else. The menu is genuinely flexible. Entree options span poultry, beef, pork, seafood, and pasta, including The Z Hall's signature Czech fried chicken and roasted pork loin. Sides range from Yukon gold mashed potatoes to roasted vegetables to a full salad bar. Appetizers, late-night snacks like a French fry bar or s'mores station, and custom menus for dietary needs like vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly are all available.

Bar service runs through licensed bartenders with options for hosted, semi-hosted, or cash bar setups. Liquor tiers include standard, premium, and top-shelf selections alongside wine, beer, seltzer, specialty cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. No outside alcohol is permitted, and IDs are checked for any guest appearing under 40.
What's Included With Your Booking
Tables, chairs, and white linens are included. Staff handles setup and teardown of tables and chairs, manages the buffet line, lights candles, refills desserts, and handles cleanup. There's a dedicated point person who handles vendor communication and day-of coordination, so you're not fielding calls from the florist and the DJ at the same time.
Morning service comes with the bridal suite and groom room: coffee, water, and light snacks, with optional upgrades like a mimosa bar, fruit trays, or a sandwich spread.
Wireless internet runs throughout the facility. Handicap accessible bathrooms with baby changing stations are available. The space can accommodate up to 320 guests for a seated dinner.
Planning Ahead
Catering tastings and wedding workshops are held throughout the year, which gives couples a chance to experience the food and get questions answered well before the event.
